Special Programs back to top Montclair State University recognizes that there are a number of high school students who have excelled outside of the classroom spending much time in extra-curricular and civic activities and, in doing so, developing important leadership skills. For this reason, the University established a Presidential Leaders Program as a special admit category for students who may have difficulty meeting the traditional standards for admission, but exemplify qualities of good citizenship and character that have been developed through their leadership activities. We invite you to nominate a student from your school for this program. This program, open only for first time, full-time freshmen has a cap of 30 students each fall. As a condition of acceptance to Montclair State, Presidential Leaders will be required to participate in the Leadership Institute and The Leadership Seminar. To be eligible for the program, students must be in the top half of their graduating class with at least a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale and have a minimum combined SAT of 950. In addition, students must have been involved in the following types of activities: served on the executive committee of a major student organization, participated in co-curricular activities such as Boys' or Girls' State or Governor's School or participated in community volunteer groups.
