Do you remember the Amphitheater? Did you graduate there? Attend freshman orientation? Take part in a performance? Watch a movie there?
Since students and faculty helped the WPA build the Amphitheater in the 1930s, it has been a landmark close to the heart of all who attended Montclair State.
In the fall of 2004, the Amphitheater was lovingly restored, then outfitted with railings, lighting and sound systems. This restoration is the result of a generous gift from the Montclair State University Alumni Association, supported by alumni and friends across the country.
A spectacular, new plaza has been created, joining the Amphitheater, the Alexander Kasser Theater and Alumni Green. Today, the Amphitheater serves as a gathering spot for classes, a quiet place to reflect, the kickoff point for Homecoming festivities and School & College convocation ceremonies.

In 2007, President Susan A. Cole and members of the MSU Alumni Association Board unveiled a plaque rededicating the Amphitheater.
