Wanted: Employers, Jobseekers and Mentors
The Center for Career Services and Co-Op Education launched a new, improved online job listing platform last week; Career Directions. Maralyn Kinch, Director of Career Counseling and Information Services is enthusiastic about the new platform's capabilities. “The platform provider, CSO Interfase is a leader in the career services software market, says Kinch. "Their primary goal is to develop and maintain advanced career center solutions that are in sync with the priorities and needs of today’s employers and job seekers. I encourage alumni to take advantage of this opportunity.”

Key features job seekers will find include the ability to:
- Manage multiple resumes, cover letters, letters of recommendation and various employment related documents
- Send Word documents with clickable URLs to web items
- Maintain an online personal calendar
- View and respond to career events
- Access all of Montclair’s Tech Tools, such as Optimal Resume
- Access announcements and instructional PowerPoint programs
- Schedule on-campus interviews

Kinch encourages MSU alumni who might be able to help out in this tough job market to also visit Career Directions. "We need our graduates to help in every aspect. For those who are in the position to hire or are aware of openings within their organization, why not help out a fellow Montclair State grad by posting your job openings on the site?”

Key features employers will find include:
- Precise searching for applicants by year of graduation, major, concrete subject matter skills, personality traits, degree, work authorization
- Ability to easily create resume packets based on selected criteria
- Opportunities to participate in Center virtual career fairs as well as register for live fairs

- Ability to e-mail applicants directly for positions and programs listed with the Center

In addition, Kinch says there are other ways alumni can help, such as becoming a mentor through Career Directions. "Volunteering your time to an MSU student or recent graduate by sharing your experience, expertise and knowledge to help them develop professionally is a rewarding experience. Students come to us often seeking advice about "the real world of work." If alumni would volunteer a few minutes of their time to respond  to a student's e-mail, our students and recent grads would benefit greatly."
