PERFORMANCES AND EXHIBITIONS

A Chorus Line: Music by Marvin Hamlisch; Lyrics by Edward Kleban; Book by James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante; Directed by Clay James
A co-production by the John J. Cali School of Music and the Department of Theatre and Dance
8:00 p.m., Memorial Auditorium
Tickets: $15

For 17 dancers, their audition for a new Broadway musical is the one opportunity to do what they've always dreamed—to have the chance to dance. This is A Chorus Line, the musical for everyone who’s ever had a dream and put it all on the line. This singular sensation, winner of nine Tony Awards and the Pulitzer Prize for drama with a book by James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante; lyrics by Edward Kleban and music by Marvin Hamlisch is the longest-running American Broadway musical ever. Come meet the next generation of Broadway’s best! For more information or to purchase tickets: www.peakperfs.org  / 973.655.5112

FAR: Wayne Mcgregor | Random Dance (U.K.)
8:00 p.m., Alexander Kasser Theater
Tickets: $15 (students free)

Wayne McGregor is hunting the ghost in the machine. Inspired by Roy Porter’s Flesh in the Age of Reason (detailing cognitive exploration during the Enlightenment), FAR is a kinetically explosive interpretation of the mind-body connection. McGregor’s dancers, classically trained and moving with an almost super-human energy, whip themselves around the stage in a blur of spins and disjointed angles - hyperextended arms and legs doing the near impossible. They search for the divine relationship between the body and the soul. For more information or to purchase tickets: www.peakperfs.org  / 973.655.5112

Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center
Noon – 5:00 p.m.
Admission: $3 for Homecoming attendees

Yogi Berra’s values, extraordinary accomplishments and lifelong commitment to the education of young people are the inspiration and foundation of the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center. The YBMLC is an engaging walk through the history of baseball, the New York Yankees and Yogi’s remarkable career.  It houses an impressive collection of historic photos and artifacts, including Yogi’s 10 world championship rings, the most of any player in baseball history.

George Segal Gallery: Carol Brown Goldberg Painting and Sculpture Exhibition
10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., George Segal Gallery
Free

Exhibition curator art critic Dr. Donald Kuspit says of Goldberg’s works “Her sculptures are critically daring, and her paintings convey her free spirit. She surrealizes meaningful objects into aesthetic meaningfulness – exposes the aesthetics inherent in them – and liberates gesture from descriptive constraints in her paintings, as Gorky, Matta, and Hoffman never completely did in theirs. They couldn’t separate the personal from the transpersonal, as Goldberg is able to do, deftly.”

Kasser Theater Special Lobby Exhibition: Tom Caravaglia and the Choreography of the Camera
10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Alexander Kasser Theater Lobby

Description: For nearly 50 years, Tom Caravaglia has worked as an innovative photographer in many different genres, with his most jaw-dropping images coming from the world of dance performance.  He crafts images of exceptional beauty, celebrating the motion of the human form in provocative and soul-searching ways.
