Undergraduate Scholarships and Awards

The Montclair State University Alumni Association continues to offer scholarship opportunities to current undergraduate students in good academic standing. Each scholarship has specific criteria, as indicated on the respective application. The amount of the scholarships will be determined by the MSUAA Scholarship Committee and may be applied to tuition and fees only for the 2010/2011
academic year.

Undergraduate Service recognizes students who have achieved high levels of performance in service to the University and community, while maintaining strong academic proficiency. Full-time students who will have completed 30 undergraduate semester hours with a minimum of one semester full time at MSU by September 2010 are eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Undergraduate Carpe Diem is intended to acknowledge undergraduates who have had to overcome difficult circumstances and adversity during the pursuit of their educational goal. This scholarship serves to recognize students who achieve academic success and provide service to the community, colleagues, faculty and staff despite these challenges. Full-time students who will have completed 30 undergraduate semester hours with a minimum of one semester full time at MSU by September 2010 are eligible to apply for this scholarship. In addition, the applicant must be a full-time sophomore or junior at time of application and not intending to graduate before December 2010.

Undergraduate Scholarship recognizes students who have maintained high academic standards while actively involved in University and community activities. Full-time students who will have completed 30 undergraduate semester hours with a minimum of one semester full time at MSU by September 2010 and have a minimum GPA of 3.25 at time of application are eligible to apply for this scholarship. In addition, the applicant must be a full-time sophomore or junior at time of application and not intending to graduate before December 2010.

Non-Traditional/Part-Time Undergraduate recognizes students who have maintained high academic standards while actively involved in University and community activities. Part-time students who will have completed 24 undergraduate semester hours with a minimum of one semester at MSU by September 2010 are eligible to apply for this scholarship. In addition, the applicant must be a sophomore or junior at time of application and not intending to graduate before December 2010.

Deadline for submission of completed undergrduate scholarship applications is Monday, March 8, 2010.
Applications received after 4:30 pm on March 8 will not be considered.

Legacy Scholarship
Each year, the Montclair State University Alumni Association Scholarship Committee considers applications of entering full-time freshman who are the children or grandchildren of a Montclair State University graduate.

The Alumni Legacy Scholarship is awarded in the form of a tuition waiver. Final selection is based on academic achievement as determined by the Office of Admissions, on financial need, as determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid and on the quality of the essay submitted by the applicant.

Interested students must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) indicating MSU as one of the recipients.

A completed application form and the accompanying 200 word essay must be received by the Office of Alumni Relations by April 12, 2010.
