October 10, 2007 (Wednesday) 7:00 pm at the Montclair Art Museum The work of BJORN G. AMELAN, as introduced by BILL T. JONES Sculptor, visual artist and Creative Director and Scenic Designer for Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, Bjorn Amelan will deliver a lecture and slide prensentation of his work that is open free to the public. Bill T. Jones then joins Mr. Amelan for a discussion about how they collaborate and Jones's interactive use of scenery by dancers. They will finish with questions from the audience. Amelan's sculpture can appear as artifacts from an ancient ritual, crafted of elements such as bronze, porcelain, rock, steel and wood. He fashions a world of 'seated stones', ample meshed figures, creatures, boats, and other objects. Some of the objects are elevated, resting on classical forms-columns, plinths and stands. The sculptures form a ritual procession, implying a journey, a movement through time. Bjorn Amelan was born in 1955 in Israel of French/Israeli parents and traveled extensively as a child. After 20 years in Paris, he moved to the US in 1993. Amelan lives in New York and New Mexico and is a student of Taoism Curricular Connections - Art & Dance Theatre Related Web Sites Creative Community Event 655-3189 or campbell@mail.montclair.edu December 5, 2007 (Wednesday) 7:00 pm at the Montclair Art Museum ROBERTA SMITH A Critic for the New York Times The Montclair Art Museum is located at 3 South Mountain Avenue in Montclair, New Jersey.
