Applying for admission to Broadcasting is a two-step process:
Applicants must complete and submit an application to the MSU Office of Admissions. As MSU has a rolling admissions policy, the sooner your application is received, the sooner you will be notified of your standing. (Note: Students already enrolled at Montclair State University and wishing to transfer into the Broadcasting major need not re-apply to the University but should instead contact the Department of Broadcasting directly at 973.655.7870 to set up an interview.)
For additional information regarding university admissions, call 973. 655.7063 or visit the Admissions webpage.
After a preliminary application review, new students may be invited to attend an interview with the Department of Broadcasting. (Please note that an interview invitation is not a guarantee of academic acceptance into the university.) Upon receipt of the interview invitation, applicants should respond as directed to schedule their appointments. Since admission to these programs is highly competitive, students are strongly urged to complete applications and schedule appointments for the earliest possible dates. (Intended freshman should interview no later than March.)
Interviewees are to bring the following to their appointment:
Notification following the interview
Generally within one week following the broadcasting interview, the department forwards its acceptance recommendations to the Admissions Office. The admissions office in turn notifies students of their overall status, normally within three weeks. (Note: MSU students applying for a change of major instead receive their reply directly from the Department of Broadcasting.)
Each Broadcasting interview session begins with an Orientation to the Department presentation. These sessions are open to non-applicants interested in the major and applicants who have not yet scheduled an interview. Students attending a Broadcasting Orientation, moreover, may wish to schedule a tour of the campus in the afternoon.
To register for a Broadcasting Information Session (if you are not already scheduled for an interview), call 973.655.7870.
