The lower level of the Alexander Kasser Theater is home to the
Harry Partch Institute. Harry Partch was a distinguished American
composer so unique that he was driven to create original instruments in
order to realize his vision. These one of a kind creations, renowned throughout
the world, now reside at Montclair State University. Partch’s legacy
of "new music" continues at the university through performance,
composition, scholarship, and the creation of the Microtonal
Music Minor. Examples of the Harry Partch instrument collection are
on view at the Kasser Theater.
