Professional Productions

The College of the Arts also sponsors a wide range of professional productions including “Peak Performances” (managed by the Office of Arts & Cultural Programming) as well as the department’s “New Works Initiative” which accepts applications from artists seeking support to produce new and experimental works.

MSU Theatre On The Move!

The Department of Theatre and Dance is on the move! To extend MSU’s outreach, our touring company takes theatre, featuring contemporary social issues, to high schools throughout the state. This adventure begins with the world premiere of a play that commemorates the 10th anniversary of September 11 and explores the teenage experience in this post 9/11 world. Both wildly entertaining and deeply provocative, this very personal story will touch students and stimulate discussions and writing.

Events for Teachers:

Department of Theatre and Dance faculty and students collaborate with the college’s Office of Education and Community Outreach to provide in-service training opportunities for high school and middle school teachers and award recognitions for students.

Programs include a Theatre Day for Teachers program; a week-long summer teacher training program; and a student Theatre Awards Night.
