The
Montclair State University Hall of Fame is designed for MSU Athletic
Alumni and former coaches to be honored for their outstanding athletics
achievement during their tenure as students-athletes and/or employees
of the University.
ATHLETE
| 1. |
Must
have been an outstanding performer in one or more varsity
sports while attending Montclair State University.
|
| 2. |
Athletic
achievements must be officially recorded in the Office of Sports
Information |
| 3. |
Athletic
achievements must be in such and outstanding nature that there
is no question as to his/her induction in the Hall of Fame. |
| 4. |
Eligible
ten (10) years after their last year of competition. |
| 5. |
Must
have excelled academically and graduated from Montclair State
University. |
| 6. |
Must
have been a good, upstanding citizen within the community |
| 7. |
Must
have continued to be a citizen in good standing an not caused
unfavorable publicity for the University, community, etc. |
| 8. |
Once nominated an athlete will be eligible for selection for three consecutive years. If not elected the nomination will be removed. |
COACH
| 1. |
Must
have been an outstanding coach at MSU for seven (7) or more
years. |
| 2. |
Coaching
achievements must be officially recorded in the Office of Sports
Information |
| 3. |
Coaching
achievements must be of such an outstanding nature that there
is no question as to his/her induction in the Hall of Fame. |
| 4. |
Must
have been an employee in good standing during their tenure. |
| 6. |
Eligible
five (5) years after their last year of coaching. |
SELECTION COMMITTEE
| 1. |
Committee is comprised of nine (9) people as follows: Seven (7) Hall of Fame members; Athletic Director and Sports Information Director. Committee members are selected by an invitation from the Director of Athletics. |
| 2. |
The committee will select no fewer than (3) and no more than six (6) inductees in a single calendar year. |
| 3. |
Approval of each candidate must be by a 2/3 majority vote. |
| 4. |
The selection must NEVER be of political nature but based on merit only. |
| 6. |
Any changes to the criteria must receive a 2/3 majority vote from the committee. |
* Honorary Member Awards will be discussed at each meeting.
