The Margaret and Herman Sokol Science Lecture Series

In 2002, Margaret Sokol established the Margaret and Herman Sokol Science Lecture Series to give members of the University and surrounding communities a greater appreciation for, and enhanced knowledge of, important issues in science. Each semester, a speaker of national or international renown is invited to Montclair State to meet with faculty and students and conduct an evening seminar.

Nicholas Wade, science reporter for The New York Times and author, presented the fall lecture in the Margaret and Herman Sokol Science Lecture Series on November 1. He spoke on “Human Evolution and Progress–How DNA is Enabling Recovery of the Deep Human Past.” The spring lecturer will be Robert Hazan, Chair and Professor of Political Science at Metropolitan State College of Denver. He has been a Research Associate at the Institute for the Study of Israel in the Middle East since fall 2001. He is a founding member of the Middle East Study Group of the Anti-Defamation League and a member of the Board of Advisors (Education Committee) of the Mizel Museum in Denver. The Sokol Lecture will take place on March 29, 2007 at 8 p.m. in the Alexander Kasser Theater. Mark your calendar!
