I want to write my resume and improve my interviewing skills.

  • Come to our instructional seminars in Morehead Hall.
    • Resumé Writing
      • Learn to write a winning resumé and cover letter. Samples of effective resumés will be discussed.
    • Effective Interviewing
      • Understand the interview process, learn about typical questions employers ask, and understand appropriate responses.
  •

  • Use OptimalResume, a comprehensive, web-based tool, which allows you to create, present and manage your resumes (you can create up to 5). OptimalResume will guide you throughout the creation of your resume, offering suggestions on how to phrase your education and employment history. Once completed, you’ll have 3 options:
    • Print your resume as a Word document
    • Copy and paste a text version
    • View as an interactive resume website which you will be able to send to employers.
Sending your resume to employers has never been easier. Get started by registering here.
  • Practice interviewing with a friend or use a tape recorder. Make an appointment with a counselor for a role play if you think you need more help.
  • Word-process a rough draft of your resume. Study it, correct it, and redo it. Have your resumé critiqued by a counselor in Career Development. Bring a word-processed copy of your resumé to the office and ask that it be critiqued. You may pick it up two days later. Or bring your resumé to the office during counseling drop-in hours for an in-person critique. Print the final copy of your resumé using Career Development's Computer Lab.
