Information Release/FERPA

In an effort to protect the privacy of each Montclair State student, Montclair State University complies with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). This federal law generally requires prior written consent from students before we can disclose personally identifiable information to parents or other third parties (other relatives, guardians, etc). Montclair State's FERPA web site offers a very extensive review of the FERPA rules, including the information Montclair State may disclose without prior consent or how to obtain consent if necessary.

2009/10 Award information

Financial Aid award notices for incoming freshmen for the 2009/10 year will be sent beginning the week of March 23rd. Students selected for federal verification will receive preliminary awards. In addition, students will receive a post card from the Office of Student Financial Aid with instructions to access a list of documents that need to be submitted if their file was selected for verification. Document requests and award information messages can be viewed on Montclair State University's Web Enrollment Services for Students (WESS).  Documents should be returned within 10 days to expedite processing. Awards will be finalized once verification is complete. 

The Projected Loan Amount represents the charges for tuition and fees (and room and board for on-campus students) NOT covered by the aid offered. A Federal PLUS loan or a private/alternative loan can assist you in paying this balance.

Important Dates:

March 1 - Priority date to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for Montclair State.

June 1 - NJ deadline to complete the FAFSA for students who received a NJ State grant in the prior year.

November 15 - NJ Deadline to indicate Montclair State as college choice or respond to request for information with the NJ Higher Education Assistance Authority (HESAA)
