Courses 5-6: Digital Photography

Digital Photography:  This class will introduce students to the possibilities that digital photography combined with computer graphics can offer. We will look at photographs and consider what distinguishes a good picture from a common snap shot. Camera basics will help students take pictures knowing various results that modern cameras offer. Composition, focal length, exposure and other aspects of picture taking will be discussed, demonstrated and applied.
We will introduce the students to Adobe Photoshop and other graphic programs and inspire them to try out the multitude of tools available to them. Students will take pictures and manipulate them to create many variations of a single image with very different appearances.  Students work will be uploaded via internet where everyone will be able to see the photographs created in class. Uploads will be screened for appropriate content and students privacy and security will be assured. A website will be created at the end of class to show the work of all students.
