PROGRAM CANCELLED FOR 2012
International Business Field Trip
This field trip, open to all SBUS majors enrolled in INBS 246 during the Spring 2012 semester, offers an opportunity to view international businesses firsthand. It will be based at the Universidad Mayor in Santiago, Chile. Located between the Pacific Ocean and the Andes Mountains, Chile’s capital city of Santiago has all the conveniences and infrastructure of a city of 5 million inhabitants. With a prosperous and growing economy, Chile has actively sought to expand its export market centered in copper mining, agriculture, fish and wood products. Chile is also known as the land of poets through the world renowned works of Pablo Neruda.
While in Santiago, participants will participate in site visits to and corporate overviews of Concho y Toro Winery, CODELCO, a mining company, the Chilean Stock Exchange, a fruit packing center, the American Chamber of Commerce and US Embassy, and other business journalism organizations. Participants will also enjoy a Chilean cooking class and walking tours of Isla Negra, Pablo Neruda’s beach house, the Maipu historic site and museum and the Pomaire artisan village.
