The deadlines to submit application materials to your MSU Study Abroad advisor are:

This is the Montclair State University study abroad deadline. Individual program deadlines may vary.

 Application Procedures
To study abroad, a student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.  Some programs require a higher grade point average.   Students submit all application materials to the Global Education Center where they must first be accepted to study abroad.  The applications are then forwarded to the appropriate foreign school or provider for final acceptance.

Study Abroad Applicant Information Form

 

All students must complete the following basic information for registration purposes

Find the specific form your program requires through CEA, NJSCIS or MSU direct  here.

Personal Statement In no more than 2 pages,  tell us your motivation to study abroad. What do you hope to learn  from your study abroad experience?  How do you think studying abroad will help you in your academic and future endeavors? 
Two References Please use this recommendation form to acquire two recommendations from supervisors at work, or any other person familiar with your character.  One of these recommendations must be made by an MSU college professor.

Administrative Fee

$350 - Please make check payable to either “MSU” (for CEA and MSU direct programs) or “NJSCIS” for all other programs.

Transcript

Use this form to have your academic transcript sent to the Global Education Center for inclusion in your records.  Go to the Registrar's office in College Hall.  Have your official MSU transcript sent to:  Domenica Dominguez, Interim Director of Study Abroad, Global Education Center, 22 Normal Avenue.

Register with NJSCIS Students going abroad through the following programs (NJSCIS, CCIS, ISA) must go  here and complete a registration with the New Jersey Consortium of International Studies.  You must also complete all of the forms listed and required by NJSCIS on their  registration website.  All materials should be submitted to the Study Abroad Office along with your application materials.

If you are going abroad through a direct MSU program or through CEA, you should not register with NJSCIS.
 

Request to work at Another Institution

This form is necessary if you will be taking classes for your Major, Minor or Gen. Ed.  You do NOT need this form for classes that will count as free electives.  Indicate the courses you will be taking at the host institution equivalent to those you would be taking at  MSU.  The form must be completed and returned to Global Education before you leave. Please note that every department needs their own form.  You can put more then one class on a form if it is in the same department.

Financial Aid Form

Only Needed if you are using financial aid to fund part or all of your program

Passport

Apply for your passport if you do not have one. www.travel.state.gov

Attendance is mandatory for all students participating in Spring 2010 study abroad programs. Saturday December 5th, 2009, Student Center room 411. 10am-12:30pm
