MGMT 580 Advanced Strategic Management, 3 credits
Total MBA, including concentration(s): 42 sh
Advanced Standing:
Students with undergraduate degrees in Business or related majors may be eligible for advanced standing in the Basic MBA courses, reducing total requirements by up to 15 SH (5 courses). Students also may qualify for advanced standing through graduate transfer credits, or challenge exams (refer to MBA Student Handbook). Eligibility for advanced standing is determined at an initial advising appointment with the MBA Director, after admission.
Categories I & II:
The minimum credit requirement for the MBA is 33 SH, depending upon a student’s eligibility for such advanced standing. Students who do not qualify for waivers complete up to 24 SH in Categories I & II, for a total of 48 SH in the MBA degree.
Category III:
Students may be eligible for advanced standing in these courses, but this does not further reduce MBA credit requirements.
- ECON 505: if waived, substitute course from electives list A-H.
- ACCT 502: if waived, substitute course from electives list A-H.
- INBS 501: if waived, substitute course from electives list E: INBS Electives.
Category IV:
All MBA students complete at least 4 elective courses (12 SH). A general MBA, without a concentration, is earned by selecting any combination of 4 courses from MBA electives list A-H, for a total of up to 48 SH for the MBA.
Single / Double concentrations:
A single concentration is 9-12 SH (3-4 courses) from a designated concentration electives list. The double concentration option requires 3 courses in each discipline, for a total of 18 SH of electives (up to 54 SH for the MBA).
Category V:
All MBA students complete the Capstone course. Pre-requisites are the completion of all Basic courses (I & II) and at least 12 SH (4 courses) of Advanced MBA courses (III & IV).
