The following committees are intended to offer students the opportunity to become involved in The Panzer Student Association, (PSA), In addition to a social component, PSA provides opportunities for students to establish a network of professional contacts which may assist them in their job searches. Information on interview techniques, job search strategies, resume tips, and new, innovative professional strategies are available through conventions and workshops that PSA attends.
Gone are the days of faculty recommendations for those who merely indicate that they are members of PSA, NJHPER, or ACSM. What counts now is what specific contributions you have made to these organizations. What follows is a list of service contributions, and committees that you may involve yourself with. Service on these committees may become rewarding and enjoyable experience for you.  Good Luck and Thanks for your support!

UNIFORM COMMITTEE

This committee will be offering our department an extremely valuable service. In the past years, industrious workers, and careful record keepers made worthwhile profits. The University Bookstore can be contacted to see how much they would add on to stock, and sell the uniforms. If it is too much money, and we have the man/woman power to sell the uniforms, then it may be worth our while to sell them ourselves. If we do, perhaps we should introduce a sales contest to motivate people to sell the uniforms. The prize for winning the contest can be any number of things including a free uniform. For more information about the uniforms you may contact Tracey Singletary (Last years coordinator)., Faculty will be requiring that students wear these uniforms so they will sell. Orders take upwards of 8 weeks so plan accordingly?

THE STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION PSA REP

This individual or committee will be responsible to maintain our relationship and standing within the SGA. This will include attending meetings held regularly at 4:00 p.m. on every Wednesday at the Student Center during the semester, as well as attending a subcommittee meeting once a week. Additionally, PSA has a mail box in the SGA Office located in the Student Center. This committee absolutely MUST check the box weekly or bi-weekly. Announcements concerning scholarships free movies and other items are regularly in the box. If you allow the box to go unattended the SGA will assume that we are not a responsible organization and may rescind our class III charter of official recognition. Among other things, this charter entitles us to the use of certain facilities, some financial subsidies, and health and liability insurance coverage for injuries sustained during a PSA sponsored event.
Another responsibility of this committee is to renew our class III charter of recognition, which is set to expire on November 1, 1999. If you let the charter expire we will loose all of the previously mentioned privileges as well as any official recognition of our very existence. If you allow this to happen, a lot of good work through the years will have gone down the drain. This is obviously a very important job.  Politics is a part of our society Are you interested in the SGA Presidency ???

Tasks
Enlist student membership and leadership  Make sure that you keep an open and tight relationship with the Student Government  Find out what events and activities that are going on and include the PSA Publicize what you find out at the meetings to the rest of the students  Get to know the Student Government and show that we are a responsible organization  Make sure someone is assigned to check the mailbox

THE COMMITTEE FOR CONFERENCES:

This committee will locate at least 5 Panzer Students who will attend this conference and stay overnight. Additionally, this committee will contact appropriate faculty members to suggest that they require that their classes attend the conference. Possible classes: Freshman Orientation to the Profession Class, and the Methods of Teaching Physical Education class. The conference is very informative and enjoyable with many opportunities for professional growth as well as socialization. Additionally, this committee may work with Peter Brill on the Job Exchange, to be held at the conference. For students that are job hunting this is an excellent opportunity to work with representatives from New Jersey school districts to set up for the exchange. Then, the student will sit down to interview with these representatives who will already be familiar with them which will afford the job applicant a decided advantage.
"Get out" and Meet some folks

Tasks
Enlist student membership and leadership

ALUMNI COMMITTEE

This committee will develop and implement rules concerning the maintenance and appearance of Dr. Margaret C. Brown
Room. The Panzer Alumni Committee meets in this room approximately 4 times a year, and as they have sponsored many meaningful events and scholarships for students it would be appreciated if the Lounge not only looked good, but if there were several, or even one, student who attended these meetings. This would present both the Alumni Committee and the PSA with the opportunity to communicate issues of concern to one another. It would be useful of the Alumni knew the types of projects that PSA is working on. Also, the Alumni Committee may be a good source for job referrals. Perhaps the Alumni Committee could lobby for the support necessary to have a videocassette recorder and television set installed in Dr. Margaret C. Brown Room. Instructional videos augmenting activity class information could be shown. Unlimited possibilities

Tasks
Enlist student membership and leadership  Establish a relationship with the alumni  Get to know them  Have functions where they are invited  Send them letters or newsletters to let them know what is going on in PSA  They are our biggest supporters so use them as resources!!!!!

THE SPEAKERS COMMITTEE

This committee will recruit speakers to come to The Panzer School to speak on a variety of topics including: How to interview,
write a resume, look for a job, new games, dance, fitness testing, measurements or whatever topic the committee and the students are interested in. The Challenge to this committee is to make sure that enough students attend the sessions to make it worthwhile for the department, as well as the speaker. Perhaps suggesting that appropriate faculty consider making attendance mandatory will help towards that end. "Refreshments will be served" usually pulls in a few people as well.
Get faculty support

Tasks
Enlist student membership and leadership  Ask the students what speakers they would like to have  Get a list of past speakers  Fundraise so PSA can sponsor the speaker  Advertise the speaker in the newspaper  Tell the public where and when the speaker will be coming and the topic they will be discussing  Have the audience open for everyone  Free Food?
