Concern
Employee Advisory Services
Montclair
State University has made arrangements with Concern EAP Inc., an
affiliate of Atlantic Health Systems (AHS) to assist University
employees in classified (AFSCME, CWA, IFPTE, and PBA) titles and
members of their households who may be experiencing financial, legal,
or personal problems.
Concern
EAP specializes in identifying and treating problems that can lead
to emotional distress, alcohol and substance abuse, and marital
or family stress. It is not usual for these types of crises to affect
job performance. They can also have a serious negative impact on
an individual's personal and family life. Problems that are promptly
identified and treated can be resolved successfully to the benefit
of all concerned which is why the University is offering this service.
Concern EAP services are provided at no cost to the employee and
rendered by a group of racially/ethnically diverse and experienced
male and female counselors at a number of convenient off-campus
locations. All contact with Concern EAP, and their records, is confidential.
Please
feel free to contact the staff of ConcernEAP
to avail yourself of the services, or contact Gilbert Rivera,
Assistant Vice President for Employee Relations and Compensation
at x4498 if you need further information about this service.
Drug
Free Workplace
The
State of New Jersey is committed to maintaining a drug-free workplace
for all State employees in order to protect the health and safety
of State employees and the public. The unlawful manufacture, distribution,
dispensation, possession or use of a drug in the workplace is prohibited.
Montclair
State University takes alcohol and drug abuse very seriously. The
reason we take these matters seriously goes beyond legal requirements.
The abuse of alcohol and/or drugs poses severe health and behavior
risks for the individual, including impaired concentration, judgment
and reasoning, as well as higher risk of accidents, injuries and
various diseases. Further, we know that alcohol and drug abuse is
likely to have serious negative effects on job performance.
From
the legal perspective, employees who violate our policies, or local,
State or Federal law will be subject to disciplinary sanctions.
These sanctions may range from a disciplinary warning through termination
as well as referral for prosecution. Sanctions may also include
the completion of an appropriate rehabilitation program.
We
offer a number of drug and alcohol counseling and treatment programs
each year and you are encouraged to contact Ms. Helen Caruso, Office
of Employee Benefits, extension x4394 if you are interested in learning
more about these programs.
Annual
Service and Retirement Awards
The
Division of Human Resources hosts an annual Service and Retirement
Award ceremony honoring those faculty and staff for their years
of service to the University.
