It was a lucrative week for Montclair State University. At
a press conference on campus Feb. 1, U.S. Senators Robert Torricelli
(pictured right holding check) and Jon Corzine (left), and Congressman
William Pascrell, Jr. (second from right) presented President Susan
A. Cole with a $750,000 check representing a federal grant for Montclair
State to create a facility for the College of Education and Human
Services that will have state-of-the-art classrooms and play an
integral role in addressing New Jersey's teacher shortage. Torricelli,
who said, "My mother went here [Montclair State University]
and prepared to become a teacher," presented the money as a
down payment for the $45 million facility. Earlier in the week,
the University and UNICO International raised more than $200,000
to support an endowed chair in Italian and Italian-American Studies
at an event at Il Tulipano in Cedar Grove. Click

affirmative action does not go far enough. She says we need a new approach.

journal or a presentation at a professional conference, professors are
well aware of the rewards of research. At Montclair State, professors
share those rewards, among them recognition and experience, with students
with whom they've brought into the research fold.
