- Because of ongoing electrical upgrades,Webster Road from Carlisle Road
to College Avenue will be closed from Feb. 10 through March 24. Access
to the Red Hawk Diner and Child Care Center will be available by entering
the campus at Clove Road or Quinn Road. (See the following instructions
for Lot 17.) Alternate routing to faculty/staff parking lots will be as
follows:
Lot 14: Enter campus from the main entrance at Normal Avenue and
proceed up College Avenue. The gate to College Avenue will be open for
shuttle buses and faculty/staff who park in Lot 14 only. A new temporary
entrance to Lot 14 will be created on College Avenue across from Calcia
and Partridge halls.
Lot 17: Enter campus at Clove Road or Quinn Road. If you enter
at Clove Road, make a left at the greeter's booth and proceed up West
Quarry Way. Make a right at the stop sign and then a second right, continuing
up West Quarry Way to the top of the hill, where you reach Webster Road.
A right on Webster and a left around the front of the Red Hawk Diner will
lead to the Lot 17 entrance. If you enter at Quinn Road, which becomes
West Quarry Way, continue to the stop sign and make a left. Then proceed
as per the directions to Lot 17.
Lot 19: Proceed as above from either the Clove Road or the Quinn
Road entrance, but do not turn left at the diner. When you reach the top
of the hill at Webster Road, make a right and proceed to this parking
lot. Shuttle bus stops will not be affected by this temporary road closure.
- The Professional Development and Peer Review (PDPR) Committee is accepting
applications for Professional Development Funds for the 2002-03 fiscal
year. Applications for professional development activities between July
1, 2002 and June 30, 2003 will be considered for funding. Those who already
have completed travel and paid for it can apply for retroactive funding.
The deadline for filing is Feb. 28, and awards will be announced by March
28. While all librarians and professional staff are encouraged to apply
for funds, priority will be given to first-time applicants. Committee
recommendations are subject to the approval of the president.
- The African-American Studies Program invites members of the campus
community to take a heritage test. The test can be found on the second
floor of College Hall on the bulletin board near the elevator. Answer
the 60-question test and submit the sheet to Dickson Hall, Room 217 by
Feb. 24 to qualifty for a grand prize drawing.
- Those who plan to march in the academic procession at commencement
on May 9 must order academic regalia by March 14 at the University Bookstore.
Forms were distributed last week via inter-office mail. All faculty marshals
are required to wear academic regalia. Ordered regalia can be picked up
at the University Bookstore from May 5 through May 8 from 9 a.m. to 5
p.m. or at the Continental Airlines Arena on May 9. A signature is required
for pickup and return.
