Ada Beth Cutler of Education and Human Services received $39,950 from the New Jersey Department of Education for the Teacher Education program to align with the soon-to-be-adopted New Jersey Teaching Standards. Elizabeth Emery of French, German and Russian had a book she co-authored, Consuming the Past: The Medieval Revival in fin-de-siécle France, published by Ashgate Publishing. From pilgrimages to popular festivals, from modern spectacles to advertising, from the work of avant-garde painters to the novels of Emile Zola, Consuming the Past explores the complexity of the fin-de-siécle French fascination with the Middle Ages. Holly Gera of Athletics was honored for her outstanding achievements in athletics and contributions to women's sports at a celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day at Seton Hall University. Naomi Liebler of English was featured in the Jan. 8 issue of the New Jersey Jewish News in a story headlined "Torah and Shakespeare, their best parts bound together." Liebler teaches courses on Shakespeare and Judaism at Bnai Keshet in Montclair. Ana Maria Villegas of Curriculum and Teaching has been appointed general program chair for the Annual Conference of the American Educational Research Association (AERA) for 2005 to be held in Montreal. AERA is the largest educational research organization in the United States and also has an international membership. More than 20,000 educational researchers attend the conference each year.She also has received the Margaret B. Lindsey Award for Distinguished Research in Teacher Education from the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education. Click here to read more about it. * * * *
