"We've seen a tremendous increase in enrollment in our graduate
programs. One emerging (offering) is a first-thing-in-the-morning class
at 6:30 or 7 a.m. Weekend scheduling, compressed courses, all these are
offered. Scheduling becomes one of the key issues." --Carla Narrett,
dean of the School of Graduate, Professional and Continuing Education,
in a story headlined "Continuing Their Education: Programs Evolve
to Meet Students' Changing Needs" in the Feb. 23 Sunday Star-Ledger.
"You can meet a friend at the mall, but conversations are hampered
by the constant distractions of noise and movement, and the absence of
places to relax in an intimate environment. Ironically, one of the cozier
places in a mall is the movieplex, where people come together in the intimate
dark to share a common wish for entertainment." --Bill Berlin
of Political Science in an opinion article he authored, "How
to Make a Mall More User-Friendly," which appeared in The Record
on Feb. 16.
"We have to go through the process of finding out how to live in
space. We might as well do it on the space station." --Michael
Zey of Management in an article headlined "Moon Dreams: NASA's
Galactic Rut" in the Feb. 14 issue of The Christian Science Monitor.
"I think a lot of great players from the time sports started have
realized you can take some players out of their game by getting them focused
on the wrong thing. It can be a useful tactic against some opponents.
For some players it energizes them, makes them feel more confident and
gets them to play better." --Ben Brennan of Psychology in
an article headlined "Verbal Sparring the Latest Trend" in the
Feb. 2 Home News Tribune. Brennan is a sports psychologist who
works with the NFL's Giants.
