MSU
becomes first U.S. university to send
students to Moscow Conservatory
Next spring, several lucky music students will
get the opportunity of a lifetime to study at the renowned Moscow
Conservatory in Russia. Montclair State expects to sign an agreement
with the Conservatory that would allow students to spend up to a
year studying at one of the best music schools in the world, making
it the first university in the United States to have this type of
exchange program with the Conservatory. (Full

New
doctoral program is first of its kind
Montclair State will
welcome its first students in the new doctoral program in environmental
management this fall. Approved this month by the New Jersey Commission
on Higher Education, the doctoral program is unlike any other in
the state because of its strong interdisciplinary and problem-solving

groundbreaking set for summer

way to the construction forefront--but it won't be quiet much longer.
The new Children's Center will be filled with squeals of delight
from the 500 youngsters who will occupy the state-of-the-art facility

teaches students how to watch TV
with a critical eye
According to the A.C. Nielsen Co., the average
American watches more than four hours of television each day. Do
the math and you'll come up with 28 hours a week, or two months
of nonstop television watching per year. As Nielsen puts it, a 65-year-old
will have spent nine years glued to the tube. Anyone who spends
that much time doing something certainly must know how to do it.
