Bina Sharif

April 2: Award-winning playwright and actress Bina Sharif will perform her one-woman show, "An Afghan Woman." Written in response to the events of Sept. 11, the presentation offers insight into the history of Afghanistan and the rise of Islamic fundamentalism. Clad from head to toe in a burqa, Sharif portrays an ordinary Afghani woman who hates the Taliban and wants to be free. Sharif retains her burqa throughout the entire play until the end of the curtain call. 10 a.m., Dickson Hall, Room 177.

Week of March 31: "Breaking into the Music Industry: the Business of Songwriting." What resources are available to help budding songwriters? Linda Lorence of the Society of European Stage Authors and Composers offers advice on how to hone songwriting skills and how to present and sell work in an increasingly competitive market. Ray Bramucci, former Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Labor, describes what a worker needs today in a competitive workforce, and what America should be doing to train its young people to be good workers. Week of April 21: "Interns for Peace." Rabbi Bruce Cohen and Karen Wald, co-directors of Interns for Peace, discuss their efforts at international peacemaking, how to train peace workers and bring warring groups together, and their recent efforts among Bosnians, Israelis and Palestinians. Produced by David Sanders; directed by Janet Pirchio; and hosted by Mark Perman.
Week of April 28: "Papermaking: Part One." Master papermaker Eileen Foti of Fine Arts demonstrates Western methods of papermaking, different fibers that can be used in the

Week of May 5: "Papermaking: Part Two."
