The Department of Theatre and Dance will present DanceWorks 2004 in Memorial Auditorium April 22-24 at 8 p.m.; April 23 at 1 p.m.; and April 25 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15; $12 for senior citizens and $8 for students with valid ID. Under the artistic direction of Lori Katterhenry, the Dance Repertory Company's DanceWorks features works by guest choreographers, faculty, alumni and students. The late Alwin Nikolais choreographed the exciting and innovative "Tensile Involvement" (pictured above) in 1953 and it has stood the test of time, filling the stage with line, color, light and movement. Other performances include "Diet Coke Can Save Your Life," choreographed by Alexandra Beller, artistic director of Alexandra Beller Dance. The dance, made possible by a grant from Dance USA and the National College Choreography Initiative, was choreographed in conjunction with "The Body Talks," an on-campus project that explores the concept of body image and its effects on our culture. Nancy Lushington, co-artistic director of DanceWorks 2004, will present a ballet, "Diagonal Exchange," and MSU dance professor Maxine Steinman will present the whimsical "Playing with Vivaldi." For tickets, call the Box Office at 973-655-5112.

A trip down Memory Lane...

These photos appear in the 1994 LaCampana, the year Montclair State became Montclair State University. Pictured right, Richardson Hall was the home to the School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences. After gaining university status, the names of the schools also changed. Richardson is now home to the College of Science and Mathematics; the School of Professional Studies became the College of Education and Human Services; the School of Fine and Performing Arts became the School of the Arts; the School of Humanities and Social Sciences became a college; and the School of Business Administration dropped Administration from its name. At left, students from a decade ago stand on line to register. Today they go online.
