Art Galleries Awarded Citation of Excellence

The MSU Art Galleries, cited as having the highest standards of excellence in its artistry, operations, governance, public benefit and fulfillment in the areas of special Council interest, recently received the New Jersey State Council of the Arts Citation of Excellence.

"This award is a validation of the good work we're doing in the Galleries," said Teresa Rodriguez, executive director of MSU Art Galleries. "The award also places us on a level with traditionally prominent cultural organizations."

Kathryn Eddy, a member of the Board of Directors of the School of the Arts and the University Galleries, said, "MSU’s Art Gallery is a treasure to the community and the State of New Jersey. Under the leadership of Rodriguez and Dean Geoffrey Newman, the Galleries have been able to attract world-class shows while continuing to support the work of local and regional artists.

"We can expect to see some innovative and cutting-edge shows as well as many exciting exhibits in the future," Eddy continued. "This is what separates Montclair State's Art Galleries from others in the area."
