- The Montclair State University Annual Fund-Raising Dinner this year will support the construction of the Alexander Kasser Theater. The event will be held Wednesday, May 8, at 6 p.m. in the Student Center Ballrooms. The dinner sponsors are First Union National Bank and Fleet Bank. - A memorial service for Sharon Spencer of English, who passed away earlier this month, will be held Monday, May 6, from 4 to 6 p.m. in Dickson Hall, Room 178. Her family and the English Department invite Sharon's friends and colleagues to speak, read from her work or submit photographs for the service celebrating her life. - The Communication Sciences and Disorders application for reaccreditation of its Speech-Language Pathology Program is being reviewed by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. As part of this process, the department has been requested to hold a public meeting open to anyone who has knowledge of the program and can provide input on any aspect of the academic and/or clinical programs. The meeting will be held Monday, April 29 from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m., Dickson Hall, Room 178. Anyone planning to attend should call 973-655-5103.
- The Center of Pedagogy will hold a Spring Faculty Development Series from May 13 through 16. The topics include technology with Elliot Soloway of the University of Michigan, College of Engineering, on May 13; performance-based assessment with Jackie Jones, senior research scientist, Educational Testing Service, on May 14; culturally responsive teaching with Ofelia Garcia, dean, Long Island University School of Education, on May 15; and inclusion, with a speaker to be announced, on May 16. All sessions will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be an opportunity to learn more about these topics during two-day workshops the week of June 10. - Commencement will be held Friday, May 24, at the Continental Airlines Arena. Ordered regalia can be picked up at the Bookstore from May 20 through May 23 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or at the Arena on May 24. A signature is required at the time of pick-up and return.
