- Over the past 95 years Montclair State has graduated more than 88,000 alumni. Are you one of them? The Alumni Association is asking all alumni to complete an online survey at www.montclair.edu/alumnisurvey. The information from the survey may be used to update the Alumni Association's database or help plan alumni activities. Every participant in the survey will receive an appreciation gift from the Alumni Association. - The campus community is invited to an English tea today in celebration of Greg Waters for his service to the campus community in his role as vice president for University Advancement. The event will take place at 3 p.m. in Dickson Hall, Room 178. Waters will join the English faculty in September. - The University's annual steam shut down will take place 6 p.m. May
9 through 6 a.m. May 23. The steam shut down is necessary to perform maintenance
and repair to the University's steam distribution system. During the shut
down, new steam manholes will also be installed as part of the campus-wide
steam upgrades. There will be no hot water in campus buildings. In addition,
there will be no air-conditioning in the Student Center and Partridge,
Richardson, Dickson, Russ, Bohn and Science halls. Buildings on the extreme
south campus (south of Normal Avenue) and on Clove Road will not be affected.
For more information, call Physical - Sprague Library is holding a book amnesty through May 15. Overdue books can be returned without a fine; fines will be waived for old obligations upon speaking to a staff person in Circulation; and lost books can be settled at half lost book charge plus a processing fee. Amnesty does not apply to reserve materials. - Russell Muter has joined the Division of Finance and Treasury as Controller. Previously controller at William Paterson University, Muter brings to Montclair State many years of business and finance experience in corporate and higher education settings. Muter's office is located in College Hall, Room 226, and his extension is 5260. - The deadline to submit papers and presentations for edTeXpo 2003 is Friday, May 16. All faculty, librarians and staff are invited to submit. This year's conference, Technology in the Service of Learning, will be held Wednesday, Sept. 24. Click here for more information about submissions and the conference. - Passengers transferring from a diesel to an electrified train must now make the transfer at the Montclair State University Station platform, currently under construction on Clove Road, rather than the Montclair Heights Station. Therefore, passengers traveling to the University on a diesel train from the west will have to change trains on the platform of the MSU Station and take the electrified train to the Montclair Heights Station. Similarly, passengers departing from the Montclair Heights Station traveling westbound will have to change from the electrified to the diesel train at the MSU Station platform. Since the MSU Station platform is within a construction site, New Jersey Transit will not permit passengers to exit to the street from the platform. Montclair State University had no input into this decision and was informed of the decision by New Jersey Transit after it was made. Click here for more information.
