Edward Chapel of Information Technology was honored by the New Jersey Technology Council as one of three finalists for the Chief Information Officer of the Year award at the Council's annual conference May 6.

Debra Zellner of Psychology was quoted on her views of food preferences in the latest issue of Attache, the in-flight magazine of USAirways.

Matt Tomaso, associate director of MSU's Center for Archaeological Studies, was quoted in the April 22 Herald News in an article about historic preservation planning.

Robert Aldridge of Music had his "Brand New Day" premiered in Boston and received a positive review from music critic Richard Dyer of the Boston Globe.

Cindy Meneghin of Web Services was honored along with students Louis Debello, music performance major, and Rosemary Topar, human ecology major, at the Women of MSU's Spring Scholarship Recognition Reception on April 19. Meneghin was recognized for her success as an advocate for domestic partner benefits and gay/lesbian issues on campus and in the community.

James Harris, associate dean of students, and Lisa Sargese of Philosophy and Religion received Mandela Awards for Outstanding Leadership in Diversity on April 28. Other recipients included David DeNotaris, alumni recipient; Elio Arce, student recipient; Haitian Student Association, outstanding organization; and Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority, Inc., outstanding program for "R.A.C.E."

Beth Gottung, women's lacrosse head coach, was named Knickerbocker Women's Lacrosse Conference Coach of the Year for the first time. Gottung guided the team to an 11-4 record and in her three seasons and has compiled a 29-15 mark, the most victories by a head coach in the history of the program.

Marie McCrary, a student in Mathematical Sciences, recently presented her research, "Epidemics in Multi-strain Disease Dynamics" to members of Congress, federal agency funding officers and invited guests of the Council on Undergraduate Research. McCrary, whose work was a joint effort with Lora Billings of Mathematical Sciences, was one of 60 students from across the nation invited to Capitol Hill on April 19 to present the results of their independent research in science, engineering and mathematics.
