Alumni Association president Wayne DeFeo
welcomes graduates to alumni family

Greetings and salutations from your fellow alumni. I want to open today with a very simple but very important question: "Is everybody happy?"

I thought so. You have a right to be happy. You have a right to be proud of your accomplishments. Now you are about to leave Montclair State. You leave here, but you remain a part of the MSU extended family.

Please look to your left. Now your right. All of these people with whom you have spent the last four years are a part of your extended family. Remember them.

Please look into the stands that surround you. Here are your friends and family. These are the people who have supported you and helped you achieve this day. Remember them.

When you leave here today as alumni, you will be entering the world of work and career with all that MSU has provided and all that you have learned. You will be in positions where you will see other MSU alumni, others of this new extended family of yours.

Remember to offer your help. Remember to reach out to those in your extended family and to others who may need your help. And remember to have fun and enjoy all that life has to offer, each and every day.

Or, to put it simply, Carpe Diem.
