Dining Services offers meal plans for faculty, staff
Dining Services is offering two meal plans for faculty and staff--15 blocks with $50 Flex Dollars for $125 or $57.50 of Flex Dollars for $50.

The 15-block plan may be paid for through payroll deduction (four pay periods at $31.25 each.) Flex Dollars can be used any time at any dining facility except the Red Hawk truck. Blocks can be used at the Blanton and Freeman dining halls (one swipe equals one meal) or at the Student Center Cafe, Rathskeller and Red Hawk Diner, where one swipe equals $3.80. Swipes can be used during meal equivalency hours only, which are as follows:
Student Center Café: Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.; Friday, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Rathskeller: Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Friday, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
Red Hawk Diner: Monday-Sunday, 11 p.m.-8 a.m.

Paper art on display, for sale at Art Galleries
The Art Galleries has on display and for sale the paper constructions of M. Anne Chapman (1930-1986). Chapman, a professor at MSU, explored the visual arts during her entire life with a dedication that reflected her devotion to excellence. Evidence of this visual exploration has resulted in a massive body of work.

Call the galleries at 973-655-5113 to set up an appointment for viewing of Chapman's paper constructions. All pieces are for sale and will benefit The Anne Chapman Scholarship Fund and the Art Galleries.


English as a Second Language course available

An eight-week English as a Second Language (ESL) program is being offered Oct. 4-Dec. 2. Registration will be held Sept. 20 and 22. Beginning to advanced-level classes are available, day and evening, two or three times a week. New classes have been added, including ESL for Educators. Board news

At its June 17 meeting, the MSU Board of Trustees approved a resolution of appreciaiton for Richard Gigliotti, dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, who left the University in the spring to become Dean of Arts and Humanities at the University of Texas A&M at Corpus Christi.

The Board also approved a resolution of appreciation honoring Lise Greene of the President's Office who retired from the University after 26 years of service.

In personnel actions, the Board approved 28 faculty appointments, 12 professional/managerial staff appointments, 11 professional staff reappointments, 137 managerial staff reappointments, 16 faculty promotions and one leave of absence without pay.

Two new trustees, Patrick LePore, executive vice president of Cardinal Health, Inc., and student Kristin Shernoff, took the oath of office. Shernoff will serve a two-year term through May 31, 2006. She is a junior human ecology major with a concentration in family and child studies, and her minor is journalism. She serves on the staff of The Montclarion and is a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority.

At the July 22 meeting, two additional trustees, Ralph A. LaRossa, vice president, Electric Delivery, PSE&G, and William T. Mullen, president, New Jersey State Building & Construction Trades Council, took the oath of office and were welcomed to the Board. The new trustees fill seats vacated by Bradley Brewster, Scott Williams and Jonathan Spicehandler.

The Board approved resolutions of appreciation honoring Williams, Brewster and Spicehandler as well as for resigning Dean of Students Helen Matusow-Ayres, who left the University after 10 years of service to become vice president for Student Development and Campus Life at Pratt University in New York.

Emeritus status was granted to Ludwik Kowalski of Mathematical Sciences and emerita status to Kay Wilkins of French, German and Russian. In addition, the following personnel actions were approved: six faculty appointments, 12 professional/managerial staff appointments, one tenure and one professional staff reappointment.
