- Montclair State University bade farewell to many retiring employees this year. For a list of those who have left campus to begin a new journey of adventure, click here.

-Laura Chartrand is serving as interim director of the New Student Experience while a national search for a permanent director is conducted. Chartrand's office is located in Morehead Hall, Room 102. She can be reached at 7609.

- The Broadcasting Department received special recognition at the Mille Grazie Awards, sponsored by the Anti-Bias Committee of UNICO National, for its student-produced video "Media and the Mob," which explores distorted images of Italian-Americans in the media. The Mille Grazie Award is given in appreciation to individuals, institutions or companies that have been instrumental in helping to foster a positive image of Italian-Americans. The awards ceremony was held at Bloomfield College.

- The Montclair State University Foundation has awarded three scholarships for 2002-03 to students who are taking classes through the Center for Adult Learning: Geraldine Helen Antelman has received the Ralph P. LaSalle Scholarship, Donna Jude Heinzmann has received the Helen M. Purcell Scholarship and Rachel Serangeli has received the Alicia Pareha Savage Scholarship. The Foundation also awarded Saul and Adelaide Goldfarb Graduate Scholarships for 2002-2003 to the following students: Andrea Romano, Victoria Hutnick, Benita Fishbein, Erin Gimbel, Jaime Bratspies, Merin Campbell, Kelly Chadwick, Thomas Montuori and Justin Allen. In addition, the New Jersey Advertising Club has awarded a $2,000 scholarship to Steven Reuter, a graduate student in the M.B.A. program.

- New electronic initiatives have taken place over the summer. The 2002-2003 Administrative Calendar also is available online at www.montclair.edu/admincalendarl. Both the directory and calendar are available in electronic format only. Montclair State University E-cards can be sent from www.montclair.edu/ecard. A variety of campus pictures are available to send with your message. The MSU E-Card is made possible by the Division of University Advancement and the Office of Information Technology.

- The Drop-In Center is recruiting new staff members for its fall training sessions. Applications are available at the Center, located between Richardson Hall and the Student Center. Training sessions will be held Sept. 22 and Oct. 13. For more information, call Rosemarie Manfredi at 5271.
