The University is welcoming many new employees to our community. To help you put a face with a name, each issue of INSIGHT Online will introduce you to a few of our newest colleagues.

Tony Mejido, director of Purchasing

Tony came to Montclair State in February from William Paterson University where he was assistant director of Purchasing. Prior to that he held several positions at Merck & Co., Inc., including senior procurement manager; construction procurement manager, facilitating multi-million-dollar construction projects in Puerto Rico and Europe; and manager of planning. He earned a B.S. from Manhattan College, an M.S. in civil engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

"It's exciting and challenging to join Montclair State during a time of growth and expansion," Tony said. "The Purchasing Department is prepared to meet that challenge by providing value-added, customer-focused procurement services."

Judy Minier, associate vice president for Academic Affairs for Curriculum and Instruction

Judy is a familiar face on campus. In 1995 she was appointed the University's first director of the Center of Pedagogy. She left in 1997 to travel with her husband to Asia where she gained experience as language arts curriculum coordinator at the Jakarta International Schools in Indonesia, professor and assistant to the vice president for academic affairs at the American University in Kyrgyzstan and educational consultant to the Center for Democratic Education in Kazakhstan. She holds a B.S. and M.S. in elementary education from St. Cloud State University, and an Ed.D. from the University of North Dakota.

In some respects, Judy feels like she never left. "A lot of the policies, procedures and the mechanisms for working things through committees, and the basic structure of offices are similar to when I left. Because of that, I don't feel as though I've been gone so long." Read more about her in this week's Q&A.

Elaine Cooper, director of Transportation and Parking Services

Elaine is the University's first director of Transportation and Parking Services. She served for two years as assistant director of Parking and Transportation Services at Rutgers New Brunswick. Before that she spent 10 years as vice president of MCRIDES, a nonprofit transportation management association serving Morris, Sussex, Warren, and parts of Essex and Union counties. Elaine holds a B.A. from Douglass College of Rutgers University. She later studied planning and zoning at the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning.

"I'm enthusiastic about the challenges facing Montclair State's infrastructure issues, such as parking and transportation," she said. "As the University grows, I look forward to helping to implement parking and transportation programs that respond to that growth and to build a department that is responsive to individuals within the community."
