Montclair State's newest faculty members gathered last week in front of College Hall to have their picture taken by a photographer for The Chronicle for Higher Education, which is working on a story about universities that are bucking the trend in faculty hiring. This year Montclair State welcomed 39 new faculty to campus, bringing the number of faculty lines to 500. We'll keep you posted about when the article and photo are expected to appear in the Chronicle.

The MSU cheerleaders: Let's give them a cheer!
Cheerleaders have to be peppy. It's what they do. So even though the Montclair State cheerleaders have had some obstacles to hurdle, they won't let anything dampen their spirits. (Full Story and Photo)

MSU is CERTainly ready for emergencies
The Montclair University Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), based on the national CERT program, is ready to provide a coordinated and effective response to campus emergencies. Fast becoming a national standard in emergency response, the CERT program began in San Francisco, and Montclair State is the first university or college in New Jersey to institute the program. You don't have to be a techie to attend edTeXpo 2003, but when you leave, you are sure to find yourself much more knowledgeable about the latest technologies. A day-long event focused on education and technology, edTeXpo includes a variety of presentations by faculty, staff and librarians as well as a hands-on Technology and Vendor Exploritorium. Award-winning science writer Laurie Garrett
to present Sokol Lecture, Oct. 7

She's the only writer to have received the three "Big P's of journalism--the Peabody. the Polk (twice) and the Pulitzer--and in two weeks health writer Laurie Garrett will come to Montclair State to deliver the Margaret and Herman Sokol Science Lecture. (Full Story and Photo)
