| MSU Receives Flag of Honor |
Montclair State University received a Flag of Honor in memory of members of the University community who died on Sept. 11, 2001, during a special Memorial Service on the fifth anniversary of the terrorist attacks. In remembrance of the victims and their families, the Memorial Service included poetry, song and prayer. Directed by the Campus Ministry Council, the Memorial Service took place near the Student Center Flag Pole as faculty, staff and students gathered to pay tribute to those who lost their lives. Rose Wesolowski, program assistant for the Career Development Center, purchased one of the Flags of Honor from the website www.flagofhonor.org and donated it to MSU. The Flag of Honor will be encased in a special frame and displayed in the Student Center. "Seven alumni of Montclair State perished that day, including the son of Frank J. Aquilino, chairperson for the Accounting Department. Those who died were innocent victims of a hateful crime against America and they should not never be forgotten," said Wesolowski. "Being a diverse university in close proximity to New York, I am sure everyone in some way knew, met or had the opportunity to know someone who perished on that day." |
