The campus community is invited to learn about the latest advances in
educational technology at this year's edTeXpo on Tuesday, Oct. 5.
The daylong event will begin in Memorial Auditorium at 10 a.m. with "The
Power of Internet 2 and How it is Being Used in Education," a lecture
by Jennifer L. MacDougall, applications coordinator at MAGPI GigaPOP at
the University of Pennsylvania. MacDougall will discuss instructional
research uses of Internet 2 and digital videoconferencing across a high-speed
network.
Following the lecture, participants are invited to the Annual Conference
Technology/Vendor Exploritorium in the Student Center Ballrooms. The Exploritorium
will feature national vendors who will demonstrate presentation technology
including data projectors, smartboards, document cameras and other digital
equipment as well as computer hardware and software, wireless devices
and more.
At noon, David Pogue, CBS News technology contributor and personal-technology
columnist for The New York Times will give a lecture, "The
Digital Generation Comes of Age." The lecture will be video-streamed
live into the Exploritorium.
Concurrent workshops will be held from 2 to 3 p.m.:
File management and e-mail strategies, including archiving mail
and organizing your mailbox
How MSU is bringing technology to education
Lecture123, eLearning applications that allow a faculty member
to capture and publish to the Web a lecture presentation that includes
voice, pen and slides
