edTeXpo Features the Latest in Educational Technology

The campus community is invited to learn about the latest advances in educational technology at this year's annual edTeXpo Conference and Technology Showcase on Tuesday, Oct. 11.

The daylong event will begin in the Alexander Kasser Theater at 10 a.m. with keynote speaker Dr. Paul Hagner, associate program director for Educause Learning Initiative. He Hagner will present "Teaching in Turbulent Times: Challenges and Opportunities."

Participants are invited to the Technology Showcase in the Student Center Ballrooms from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Showcase will feature Web conferencing, book publishers, Smartboards, voice technology, classroom control systems, audio and visual equipment suppliers and Web site developers. In addition, Vistacom, Inc. who will provide the technology for mediated classrooms in University Hall, will set up a mock classroom with a teaching station on display to demonstrate the technology that will be installed in these classrooms.A special prize drawing will be held at 11:45 a.m.

At noon, agent Bill Tsigaras of Morris County Prosecutor's Office will give a lecture, "Cyber Security: What you have to do to protect you and your family?" in the formal dining room of the Student Center.

Concurrent workshops will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the Student Center:

• The Training Group Presents Online Training Resources

• Audio Visual Technology--24/7 impacts in Education

• Effectively Integrating Internet Applications in the K-20 classroom
