- The State Health Benefits Open Enrollment period began Oct. 1 and will end Oct. 31. During open enrollment employees can enroll in any of the plans offered, change to a different health and/or dental plan or add eligibile dependents not previously enrolled. Coverage becomes effective Jan. 1, 2003. This also is the time to enroll in the Tax Save Program, which includes the Unreimbursed Medical and Dependent Care Spending Account. There is no premium cost to employees who enroll in NJ Plus. Employees will pay 5 percent of the premium cost if enrolled in an HMO or 25 percent of the premium cost if enrolled in the traditional plan. More information about open enrollment and the various plans will be distributed to full-time employees. - The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra is offering Montclair State students the opportunity to see performances for just $5 per ticket. Performances take place at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark and six other locations throughout the state. Information is available at www.njsymphony.org. For tickets, call Beth Bauer at 973-624-3713. - The deadline to submit nominations for 2003 honorary degree recipients is Thursday, Oct. 24. Criteria, restrictions and nomination forms were distributed by the President's Office last week. Nomination forms are to be returned to the President's Office, College Hall, Room 235. - To prepare for the spring semester, the University Bookstore will begin returning remaining fall textbook stock to the publishers on Oct. 14. Faculty are asked to advise students about returns. In an effort not to return textbooks needed for classes that begin midway through the semester, or ones that are used in the later part of courses, Faculty should notify Steve Gaffney, textbook manager, of titles that need to be held. Textbooks that arrived after Sept. 30 will be held until early November. Spring textbook requisitions that can be turned in prior to Oct. 15 are appreciated. - New hours for the Student Center Dining Room are 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. - The Drop-In Center is recruiting new staff members for its fall training sessions. Applications are available at the Center, located between Richardson Hall and the Student Center. Training sessions will be held Oct. 13. For more information, call Rosemarie Manfredi at 5271.
