Catherine Katz, Director of Alumni Relations
Cathy comes to Montclair State from Castilleja
School in Palo Alto, Calif., an independent, college-preparatory
school for girls grades 6-12, where she served as alumnae director.
There she developed a successful system of increasing alumnae support,
accountability and visibility, and launched the school's first online
community for alumnae, parents and students. Prior to that she served
as director of marketing and technology at Watkinson School, where
she spearheaded the creation of an innovative student-designed and
written school viewbook, which garnered a national gold medal from
the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. Cathy earned
a B.A. in theater from the University of Hawaii, and certification
in Orff-Schulwerk from the University of Southern California.
"It's exciting to be at Montclair State at
this particular time," she said. "The energy of change
infuses everything. Alumni Board members are eager to improve services
to both alumni and the University, and the campus community is stepping
forward with ideas for future collaborations. My plan is to discover
what services, connections and opportunities the University's alumni
want from MSU, and then to deliver them. Since graduating classes
span almost 100 years with a broad range of interests and affiliations,
the task is complex. We're going to seek ways to get alumni to tell
us what they need."

Charlie Matteis, Director of Organizational
Development and Training, Human Resources
Charlie brings to Montclair State extensive experience in organizational
effectiveness, change and performance management. He has been in
the organizational development (OD) and training field for more
than 10 years and has done everything from directing the efforts
of the internal OD and Training group for the U.S. headquarters
of Ciba-Geigy Corporation to independently consulting in the field.
Charlie has an M.B.A. in management from Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute, and a B.P.S.in data processing management from State
University of New York.
"I'm pleased to be Montclair State University's first director
of Organizational Development and Training," he said. "The
excitement and challenge of this role are not only in creating something
that hasn't existed, but doing so in a fashion that best satisfies
the University's needs and constituencies. I'm particularly excited
about joining Montclair State at this time in its history as it
updates its mission and refines its values. This will provide a
solid foundation for the training and development efforts that will
be created to support the University's goals. I look forward to
working with the entire campus community over the months and years
to come."

Regina Sargent, Director of Residence
Life
Before accepting the director of Residence Life
position at Montclair State, Regina served as associate director
for Student and Staff Development/Residence Life at Binghamton University
in New York for 14 years. She also served as area coordinator for
the Office of Residence Life at Illinois State University, where
she was the chief administrator for a two-building complex housing
approximately 1,700 residents. Regina has a B.S. in psychology from
Stetson University, and a master's degree in student personnel in
higher education from the University of Georgia.
"The Residence Life staff has been supportive of me and is
enthusiastic about the potential growth of the campus during the
next few years," she said. "Given the action plans outlined
in the University's strategic plan, it's an exciting time to be
here. I'm looking forward to working closely with the Residence
Life staff to further enhance our living/learning opportunities
where faculty and staff feel connected to the students living in
the residence halls. I want to welcome students into our residential
communities and provide opportunities for them to reach out to the
staff."
