Day explores the impact of technology
on teaching and learning
"Montclair
State University will embrace the pervasive and transforming use
of technology." These words are part of the University's Strategic
Plan and Mission Statement, but one doesn't need the official document
to see that the University is committed to taking full advantage
of the abilities of technology in transforming the learning process.

Ceremony
to celebrate construction of largest building on campus
Ground
has been broken and excitement is building for what people are simply
referring to as the NAB (New Academic Building). And while there's
been much activity at the site where the state-of-the-art facility
will stand, construction vehicles will stop on Monday, Oct. 27,
for a ceremonious brick laying for the largest building on campus.

Keeping
it all in the family
The Montclair State University community is often
referred to as a family, and for some students this phrase rings
especially true. While many sisters and brothers wouldn't even consider
going to the same college, there are groups of sibling students
at Montclair State who wouldn't have it any other way. We gathered
some siblings together (a difficult task in itself) to find out
if they share sibling rivalry or brotherly/sisterly love. We started
with our largest family, which has a sibling in each class--the
Youkers. (Full Story and Photos)
Summer
teaching experience opens students' eyes
to challenges in urban districts
A fifth grader at the Boys and Girls Club
of Paterson is eager to begin a new day. Whether it's a new word
to learn, a problem to solve, or just a simple game to play, he
is ready to take on the world. He is much like his peers in neighboring
communities, but he faces a different set of challenges as a child
growing and learning in an urban environment. Fifteen Montclair
State students experienced for themselves this summer the obstacles
students and teachers in urban districts face every day. They were
participants in the University's Urban Teaching Academy (UTA), a
program funded by the Commission on Higher Education's Teacher Effectiveness
Grant. (Full Story and Photos)
