Beth Gottung, Coach, Field Hockey/Lacrosse

Beth Gottung comes to Montclair State from Trinity College in Connecticut where she served as an assistant coach for field hockey and women's lacrosse. Gottung is the 17th head coach of the field hockey program and the seventh of the women’s lacrosse team. She took over a Red Hawk field hockey team that went 15-4 last season and captured the ECAC Division III Mid-Atlantic Championship, while the MSU women's lacrosse team posted a 5-7 mark.

Gottung graduated summa cum laude from American International College (AIC) in Springfield, Mass. with a bachelor's degree in history and, in 2000, a master's degree. She was a letter winner and captain of AIC field hockey and lacrosse, where she earned Northeast-10 All-Conference honors in field hockey in 1999. An Academic All-American, she was awarded an ECAC Merit Medal in 2000 and earned awards at American International for excellence in civics, history and education as an undergraduate.

"I'm excited to have the opportunity to coach two teams with excellent athletic potential," she said. "I look forward to continuing the winning tradition of the field hockey team and helping the lacrosse program achieve similar success."

John Greco, Coach, Men's Lacrosse

John Greco replaces Doug Alsofrom, who stepped down after 15 seasons as the all-time winningest lacrosse coach in Montclair State history. Greco, who earned a bachelor's degree in fine arts from Montclair State, is a former Red Hawk defender and Stick 'Em Award recipient. He spent the past two years as Alsofrom's top assistant coach and last spring he was co-coach of the women's lacrosse team.

"I look forward to the upcoming season and I wish Doug well," said Greco, who played for Alsofrom from 1997 through 2000. "I'm thankful to be in this position and I hope the players and the University are as excited as I am."

Brian Sentowski, Coach, Men's Soccer

Brian Sentowski has been named the 12th head coach in the history of men's soccer at Montclair State, taking over for Rob Chesney, who became an associate director of Athletics in January. Sentowski, who spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach, brings a wealth of experience as both a player and a coach.

A graduate of Rutgers University with bachelor's degrees in sociology and philosophy, Sentowski was a four-year letter winner for the Scarlet Knights and was a member of Rutgers' national runner-up team in 1990. He went on to serve as the team's captain and was a four-time Atlantic 10 All-Conference member from 1990-1993. In 1993 he was named a Regional All-American and graduated as Rutgers' all-time assist leader.

A former first-round pick of the Cleveland Crunch of the National Professional Soccer League, Sentowski also serves as a head coach with the New Jersey Youth Soccer Olympic Development Team. He also spent three years as an assistant coach at Livingston High School where he helped the Lancers to a berth in the North Jersey Group IV finals in 1995.

Sentowski was a scholastic standout as well, earning New York State Player of the Year honors in 1990 while at St. John the Baptist High School in West Islip, N.Y. He was named Parade magazine's All-American and Gatorade All-American in 1990, and spent two years with the United States "Under 20" National Team.
