campus community play a role in these two important issues, and this year's
University Day program on Wednesday, Oct. 24, will give campus-wide attention

Volleyball
players get heroes welcome abroad
"Coach always talked about it," said
Susie Cipriano, a senior physical education major about the prospect of
the volleyball team competing abroad. The talk became reality when Head
Coach Sandra Sanchez-Lombeyda served up the idea of a trip to the Dominican
Republic.

Garden: Where art meets nature
Behind the University Art Gallery is a place where art
and nature come together to create a special environment. "The Sculpture
Garden is not just a place to display artwork," said Theresa Rodriguez,
acting director of the Art Galleries. "It's a special place for students
and faculty to congregate. It is a peaceful, inviting place surrounded
by nature. There is a sense of calmness that attracts people."

Gera
receives state award for contributions to athletics
Holly Gera, director of Intercollegiate Athletics, received
the Garden State Award presented by the Collegiate Athletic Administrators
of New Jersey (CAANJ). The presentation was made Oct. 11 at the CAANJ
