George Antoniou of Computer Science presented a paper, "On the minimal state space realization for all-pole and all-zero lattice discrete two-dimensional filters" at the 6th International Conference on Signal Processing, Beijing, China. The paper was also published in the conference proceedings.

Lindsay Gambini of Arts Programming received $18,698 from the New Jersey Council on the Arts for general support of arts programming. This is the third year of a three-year award.

Nancy Lauter of Elementary and Early Childhood Education received $124,993 from the New Jersey Department of Education to fund the research design and data collection system to be used in the assessment of preschool programs and the children's achievements in clusters of Abbott Districts.

Wayne Positan, a member of the University's Board of Trustees, received the 2002 Humanitarian and Achievement Award from the Columbian Foundation. A managing director of the Roseland law firm Lum, Danzis, Drasco, Positan & Kleinberg, Positan received the award at the Foundation's annual awards dinner Oct. 12 at the Birchwood Manor in Whippany.

Jennifer Robinson of Curriculum and Teaching received $103,167 from the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education to expand the capacity of the Urban Teaching Academy to recruit, prepare and support highly competent literarcy, mathematics and science teachers for high-need urban school districts.

Teresa Rodriguez of the Art Galleries received $500 from the Essex County Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affiars to fund an Artists Housing Panel Workshop on Nov. 16 on campus as part of the 2002 Essex County Local Arts Program Workshop Series.
