Nov. 8-11, 15-17: "Hotel Paradiso." Described as bold, reckless and funny by The New York Times. 8 p.m. Nov. 8-10 and 15-17, 2 p.m. Nov. 11 and 1 p.m. Nov. 16, Memorial Auditorium. Tickets: $15 standard; $12 faculty, staff, alumni and seniors; $8 students. Sponsored by the Theatre and Dance Series.

Nov 17: "Brick City Blues," co-written by Yvette Hall of Academic Advising and alumna Tracy Smith, along with 11 other women, will be direced by Tony and Grammy Award-nominated wordsmith Reg E. Gaines, co-author of "Bring in da Noise, Bring in da Funk," at 8 p.m. at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark. The play incorporates poetry and performance by the authors, a multigenerational group of women who are all residents of Newark. For tickets, call 1-888-GO-NJPAC.

Nov. 6: "Writing History," a discussion of the recent decisions to halt production of textbooks in order to revise them in light of the events of Sept. 11. Education students, faculty and area teachers are invited to participate. Guests will include three editors from Pearson Education who are involved in the editing and writing of social studies textbooks. The format for discussion will be an ISDN video conference. Nov. 13: "Religion in a Time of Crisis: The World Trade Center Attack." Father Al Berner of the Newman Center describes his role as Catholic chaplain, how religious people reacted to the attack and how to comfort those in distress.

Nov. 20: "The Negro Leagues." Larry Hogan of Union County College discusses the history and achievements of African-American baseball players.

Nov. 27: "Siena 2000." Describes the student experience in Montclair State's study abroad program in Italy, the history of Italian communes and the Jubilee Year in Rome. Features Vincenzo Bollettino of Spanish and Italian.

Through Nov. 9: Baseball's Strikeout Leaders. A celebration of baseball's all-time strikeout leaders, from Walter Johnson to Nolan Ryan to Roger Clemens. See game-work jerseys of the 12 formidable pitchers who have had at least 3,000 career strikeouts.

Nov. 16: Winner's Workshop, a motivational program for athletes, parents and coaches. For anyone involved in youth sports, this is a fun, fast-paced program presented by sports psychologist Robert Gilbert, a faculty member in Montclair State's Department of Health Professions, Physical Education, Recreation and Leisure Studies. 9:30 a.m.-noon.
