State takes technology to new levels
Montclair State students
toured the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) without having
to cross the Hudson River. Last week Montclair State became the
first university in the country to hold a videoconference with the
AMNH when students in three separate classes took virtual field

major has 'a latte' be proud of
Between working a 40-hour week and going to school
full time at Montclair State, Marla Kossup likes to relax once in
a while with a good cup of coffee. Finding the time to relax is
the hard part. Getting a good cup of coffee, well, that's easy for
the senior business major who recently was named Starbuck's "Starbuckian

Students
and faculty member receive Sokol awards
For many years, the generosity of alumna
Margaret Sokol '38 has been seen and felt throughout campus. From
the seminar room in Science Hall to scholarships, fellowships and
a lecture series, Sokol has enhanced the lives of faculty, students
and all members of the campus community. Seven freshmen and one
faculty member were added to the long list of beneficiaries when
this year's recipients of the Margaret and Herman Sokol Freshman
Chemistry Awards and the Sokol Faculty Fellow Award were announced.

Professor
makes food safety a priority and
offers tips for cooking the Thanksgiving turkey
John Specchio of Human Ecology has a lot on his
plate. Coordinator of Montclair State's Food Science and Technology
Program, a senior science adviser for the Food and Drug Administration
(FDA) and a member of the FDA's bio-terrorism team, he is always
looking for a better recipe to ensure food safety in this country.
