H.M. Hubey of Computer Science had a paper, "Evolution of Intelligence," published in Kybernetes, Vol. 31 No. 3/4, 2002. The manuscript is a nonlinear dynamic mathematical model of intelligence, and intelligence testing/measurement. He had another paper, "Detection of Chance Events, Real-time Processing of High-dimensional Streaming Data, and Datamining," published in the proceedings of the AAAI Fall Symposium on Chance Discovery held Nov. 15-17 in North Falmouth, Mass. His paper "Arithmetic as Fuzzy Logic, Datamining, and SVMs" was published in the proceedings of the International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery held, Nov. 18-22 in Singapore.

Freyda Lazarus of Career Development received $120,236 from the United States Housing and Urban Development to continue the community outreach collaboration between Montclair State and the town of Montclair, to improve community relations and connect University resources to the problem-solving activities in the town.

Susana Sotillo of Linguistics had an article, "Constructivist and Collaborative Learning in a Wireless Environment," published in the November TESOL Journal. The article summarizes Sotillo's experiences teaching and learning with wireless technologies at Montclair State.
