Immigration regulation requires that all F-1 students be registered full-time each semester. Full-time for undergraduate students is considered at least 12 credits each semester (fall and spring semester; summer is optional). International students pay out-of-state tuition at Montclair State University. International students must have sufficient financial support must show proof of having financial resources immediately available to cover 12 months of expenses, based on the estimates outlined below. Remember that all fees may change without notice.
Please note: Tuition increases may occur each year I-20 Application International students will need to apply for an F-1 student visa in order to study in the United States. In order to apply for the F-1 students visa students will need the document Form I-20 - Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant (F-1) Student Status. The I-20 is issued by the university and students must complete the I-20 application and submit the application to International Services with the required documents. It is recommended that once a student submits the admission application to Undergraduate Admission office, they download the I-20 application and submit it to International Services. While the admission office is processing the admission application International Services can review the I-20 application and once the student is accepted the I-20 can be issued. Please make sure to submit the I-20 application to International Services and not to Undergraduate Admissions office. Visa Procedure Once the I-20 issued the student will for a F-1 student visa at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in their home country. Appointments are required and some U.S. Embassies and Consulates require that appointments be made at least six to eight weeks in advance.
