Statement of Principles and Purpose of the Montclair State University Institutional Review Board

All persons conducting research involving human participants have an ethical as well as professional obligation to ensure the safety, protection, and rights of participants. It is the intent of Montclair State University (MSU) through the Institutional Review Board (IRB ) to assist those engaged in research involving human participants to conduct their research according to ethical principles that reflect professional as well as community standards, regardless of the source of funding. It is also the intent of the university and the IRB to facilitate competent, ethical and sound research involving human participants. To that end, the university requires all research involving human participants to comply with federal, state, local, and sponsor’s regulations.

IRB Documents/Forms

(Since documents and forms are subject to change, they should be referenced and completed from this site before each submission is made to the IRB.)

We are in the process of changing the application forms and processes to seek approval
for the use of human participants in research. In the interim, when submitting
an application, please e-mail the application and
provide one copy of the forms that require original signatures to the IRB office.

When you e-mail the documents please try to compile all the materials in one file if possible.
If not, please send the materials in a zipped file.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact us at reviewboard@mail.montclair.edu
