Submission Instructions and Deadline Dates

Applications must be sent to Fitzgerald Edwards, IRB Administrator (edwardsf@mail.montclair.edu). Do NOT send applications to the IRB Chair.


Instructions and Requirements for Submitting Applications

All Montclair State University Institutional Review Board (IRB) forms are available for download as Word documents on the Institutional Review Board (IRB) website at http://www.montclair.edu/pages/ORSP/irb.html

Applications are accepted and reviewed on an ongoing basis. Therefore, you can submit your application at any time.

There are three review categories: Exempt, Expedited, and Full. (See MSU IRB Manual for category definitions)

Should the IRB determine that your application requires full committee review, it will be reviewed at the following IRB meeting if the application is received by the specified deadline.

The IRB will make every effort to notify you of its action as quickly as possible. Regardless of the type of review your application receives, you will receive notification of the IRB's action no later than 21 work days after submission of your application or within 7 work days after the IRB meeting, if a full review is required.

Electronic Submission

Electronic submissions of IRB Applications are preferred. If you submit your application electronically, send the application and all attachments to the IRB Administrator (as attachments to E-mail messages) at: edwardsf@mail.montclair.edu

Please submit all forms that require original signatures
 to the IRB office in hard copy format.


Electronic Submission Confirmation

To receive confirmation that the IRB received your submissions activate the “RETURN RECEIPT” option in your email menu before sending your submissions.

 

PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR APPLICATION TO THE IRB CHAIR.
Sending your application to anyone other than the IRB Administrator may delay the processing and review of your application.

 

In addition to electronically submitted forms, you must also submit the following via mail in paper copy: two (2) copies of any attachments that cannot be sent electronically.

If you submit your application in paper copy, send two (2) copies of the application and all attachments to:
